Key questions to Unravel Myths about Music
- Can Everyone Sing?
Yes, everyone can sing. Music (sound in time) was built into man’s system by default. Singing is a natural ability of any human being. Do you know that your heart beat is music?
However not every one who can sing is a singer, and not everyone who can play an instrument is a musician. Singers are those who have the natural talent to sing or play with greater skill or have acquired the skill through learning; same applies to players.
There are two sides to music
1. Having the skill to sing or play;
2. Understanding the Principles behind the music
In a nut shell skill focuses on what to do, while principles focus on why you are doing what you do. There are so many people who sing or play great but do not understand the principles behind their singing or play. But this is wrong, and they must be schooled to understand, and this would help them do more and to teach others. It is never too late to start. - Is it necessary to learn everything in music?
No! You need to learn and master what is required for what you wish to do with music.
Let me break this down into 5 levels for you to understand
Level 1 – Basic singing or playing for everyone. Can be used for leading family quiet time or worship at home
Level 2 – Singing or playing in a basic level choir in school or church, leading worship in a small church or group
Level 3 – Singing or playing in an advanced or music group where notes are sung and more advanced play. Lead vocalist in a basic choir, Basic music director
Level 4 – Professional or lead Vocalist, Professional Band player, Music Director,
Level 5 – Recording Artist
Based on what level you need to get to, based on your calling, you need to be schooled for it. - Can everyone be a Minister (Solo Artist)?

- Does every musician need a personal or voice coach?
No! It is good to have a personal music coach but it is not always necessary. Personal coaches average around $200 per hour around the world. Voice coaches average around $80 per hour. That is rather expensive to keep. Don’t be fooled by those who say they have voice coaches and they are not paying and stop forcing friends to become your voice coach. Be professional and pay for the service to get the best.
What Voice Coaches do
– Assess your voice to recommend exercises that bring out the best in your singing
– They monitor your voice to understand what foods or factors affect it
– They prepare schedules for your training
– They monitor your vocal performance over time to recommend how to improve
– They work with you on individual songs to help you perform at your peak all the time
You need a Voice Coach for the following reasons:
– If you are a Solo Artist who travels a lot having live shows and concerts
– you are an upcoming artist or group
– you need help with correcting a vocal flaw,
If you are just singing in a choir, you can learn from other group members and your music school, if you are in one. Some schools include mentorship programs where you can have direct attention; which are in effect just like having a personal voice coach, but far cheaper. - Must a musician marry a musician?

It is never too late to start singing, however it is very important to start as soon as you can because:
– It takes time getting used to a Music Schedule. Most people become ineffective after marriage because they were not consistent before Marriage and are unable to balance after.
– The older you get, the less creative or energetic you may become; you do not want to lose all the earlier years
– Society in certain parts of the world frown on older people doing music; you need to defeat this with a strong will and associating right.
To be a good musician, it is important to see Music as part and parcel of your life. This helps you adapt to any situation to remain effective with your musical ability.
