CHRISTIAN LEADERSHIP – SERVING UNDER A VISION
Christian leadership in a music ministry means faithfully serving under God-given vision, supporting your leaders, and using musical gifts to build the church (Body of Christ), not yourself (Matthew 20:26–28).
It is about alignment, humility, and excellence so that Christ—not the musician—is seen and glorified (Colossians 3:23–24).
Serving Under a God-Given Vision
God gives vision and leaders to guide His people: “And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding” (Jeremiah 3:15 KJV).
Leaders equip the church to fulfill God’s purposes: “And he gave some, apostles… pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry” (Ephesians 4:11–12 KJV).
Heart Posture: Submission and Humility
Believers are called to submit to spiritual leadership: “Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls” (Hebrews 13:17 KJV).
True greatness in leadership is humble service: “But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant” (Matthew 23:11 KJV).[4]
Specific Attitudes in Music Ministry
Everything done in ministry, including music, must honor Christ: “And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus” (Colossians 3:17 KJV).
Ministry is not about being seen but about serving unto the Lord: “And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men” (Colossians 3:23 KJV).
Responsibilities of Serving Under Vision
Faithfulness and reliability are essential: “Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful” (1 Corinthians 4:2 KJV).
Using musical gifts is part of stewarding God’s grace: “As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God” (1 Peter 4:10 KJV).
Guarding Unity in the Music Team
Division and competing agendas are forbidden: “Now I beseech you, brethren… that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment” (1 Corinthians 1:10 KJV).
Unity in heart and purpose strengthens ministry: “Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace” (Ephesians 4:3 KJV).
